Bush defends invasion of Iraq, describes threat of "weapons of mass hunger"

In this online article over at Yahoo news, we have the Bush administration working their way down the list of rationales for invading Iraq:

WASHINGTON -
President Bush and his vice president conceded Thursday in the clearest terms yet that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction, even as they tried to shift the Iraq war debate to a new issue — whether the invasion was justified because Saddam was abusing a U.N. oil-for-food program.

Explained Bush, "You have to understand just what kind of terrorist madman we're dealing with here, one that would blatantly bend the rules just to get food to his starving people. I think it's critical to realize how important it was to confront hungry Iraqis over there, on our own terms, before we had hungry Iraqis on the streets of our home towns. I mean, we already have enough hungry people here and, really, they're kind of annoying. If you know what I mean."

When asked why it wouldn't have been simpler to save the $200 billion the war has already cost and just give the Iraqis some food, Bush responded, "I don't get it. How exactly would that work?"
