Well, NOW I won't have to feel guilty about it anymore.

Apparently, genocidal violence is suddenly a good thing (emphasis added):

At today’s press conference, NBC’s David Gregory noted that, three years ago, the Bush administration predicted that “the invasion of Iraq would create a new stage of Arab-Israeli peace,” but that hasn’t happened.

In response, President Bush proudly declared that American foreign policy no longer seeks to “manage calm,” and derided policies that let anger and resentment lie “beneath the surface.” Bush said that the violence in the Middle East was evidence of a more effective foreign policy that addresses “root causes.”

Excellent. Me, a Blogging Tory and a tire iron. Time to address the "root causes" for all that "anger and resentment." Don't wait up.

BONUS SNARK
: As the years go by, this will never lose its entertainment value.

I see, sort of like in Iraq, more violence and death is a result of more success against the evil doers. So when the whole region is in flames we'll know that freedom has prevailed.

I am perhaps pessimistic, but I don't think that the whole region in flames will be the signal. The whole region as an arid desert, with no population to speak of, but with the oil still accessible - that will be the sign that freedom has prevailed.
