Meoooowwwwww!

Unhinged Catholic Kathy Shaidle takes a catty swipe at the folks from PETA:

Another reason to mock PETA:

Chick's underwears don't even match!

So ... here's the PETA spokesbabe:

and here's unhinged Catholic Kathy Shaidle:

No offense, Kathy, but I'm guessing I could see my way past the mismatched underwear. That's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make.

SLAPPING AROUND CATHOLICS IN GENERAL: In the comments section, Ti-Guy writes (jokingly but with some actual rationale underneath):

As a Catholic, I'm offended by these attacks and unfair generalisations about people of my faith...

...Ha! Actually, I'm not. Just getting my politically correct outrage in here and indulging in the identity politics we all *love* so much.

Of course, it's an unfair generalization to tar all Catholics with the rancid, Kathy Shaidle paintbrush but, as long as she holds herself out as a shining example of Catholicism and has held positions such as Contributing Editor of the Catholic Register and the rest of her religion tolerates her, then they're collectively fair game.

So to any well-meaning and legitimately reasonable Catholics who want to say, "Come on, we're not all loathsome, racist, homophobic, putrid sacks of pus like Kathy Shaidle," I would respond, "Fine. Then ex-communicate her. Until you do, you and your religion own her. She's yours, baby."

Now ... where was I? Oh, right ... fashion violations ...

BY THE WAY, in the same way that the Catholic Church has to deal with their association with Kathy Shaidle, so do the Blogging Tories. As long as people like Shaidle and Kate McMillan are members there, it's entirely fair game to suggest that the BTs continue to make a fine home for Canada's racist hatemongers.

If one gets the chance, one might ask BT co-founder Stephen Taylor what kind of standards he has for membership. If any.

The unsightly, mismatched underwear doesn't stay on for very long, at least.

Sooooo...is the masthead some sort of joke?

Ordinarily I'd say this is ok... but Kathy suffers from Lupus which is part of the reason for her facial disfigurement.

I don't really think it's funny to poke fun at somebody because they suffer from a life-threatening and disfiguring disease... even though Kathy Shaidle regularly mocks people for not having a lot of money, calls Muslims "stupid retards" and calls the french "dirty" and that they are "cluttering up" Canada.

You are way more classy than this CC... I'm assuming you didn't know about the Lupus.

I don't agree, Meghan. Kathy is the one who made superficial comments based on looks. That's always cheap and childish. To take a poke at her on the same level is not unfair at all.

And the lupus didn't cause the glasses, hair, or turtleneck. Which is the obvious comparison with the PETA woman's underwear.

No, MWW, I didnt ... and it doesn't change a thing. In fact, it makes Kathy's perpetual hatefest even more unforgivable.

One would think that someone who has to deal with that on a daily basis might find it easier to be compassionate toward others. Instead, she's one of the most insulting and hateful people in the entire blogosphere.

One might also, if one was truly cruel, suggest that Kathy is being punished by God for being such a vile, despicable excuse for a human being. But we would never suggest that here.

We're classier than that.

Well I hope so, CC. I have lupus and I don't even believe in God. Using right-wingian logic then, does that mean I'm supposed to now?

These big life questions are so confusing...

Seriously though, you should have warned your readers that this video contains nudity and, frankly, as a woman, I think it's a cheap stunt (and I'm no prude). And who the hell cares if her underwear doesn't match?? Are there underwear fashion police that I'm not aware of (besides Shaidle?)

catnip admonishes me:

"Seriously though, you should have warned your readers that this video contains nudity ....

Normally, I would have but, given the heads up from the video still above and the way you can see it coming a mile away while you watch the video, you can't really suggest that it snuck up on you unawares: "Um, yeah, I was watching the video and she was talking about animal rights and OH MY GOD, she was suddenly naked!!"

"Viewer beware." That's our motto. And "Go fetch CC some more bourbon." That's our motto, too.

CC: I agree with you. KKKathy is just a bitter, mean racist. The Lupus has nothing to do with it. She enjoys (not to say gets off) ridiculling minorities and other UnCatholics. If this is Christianity call me an atheist.

Shaidle can go fuck herself, Lupus or no. If her condition is causing her some sort of mental confusion that is loosening some impulse control or causing her to tap into a well of despair that is manifesting itself in her hateful comments, then she should perhaps give up blogging and participate in a more life-affirming activity. I'm sure a decent priest or nun would recommend exactly that.

On the update...

Until you do, you and your religion own her. She's yours, baby."

Oh, indeed she is. Well, not really...I think she's more God's problem than anyone else's. I'm not a fan of ex-communication for anyone (in any case, for Catholics, that usually just means refraining from taking communion...the authorities still want you to come to Church and give them money for gold candlesticks and such), though I'm warming to the fundy Christian practice of shunning.

Anyway, I'm not surprised that she'd have been considered acceptable for The Catholic Register, but I was taken aback that she was published in the (sadly now defunct) Catholic New Times, which was a very progressive Catholic publication. But, I've never seen any of her writing in either of those publications, so I don't really know on what basis her value was determined. She's obviously declined over the last while, what with her racist hate-speech and overall odiousness and whatnot.

Um, I'll take care of that.

Do any BTs actually respond to this boring (and never-ending) link-baiting?

Shaidle is..what's the word?..snarky. I thought this blog was all about snark?

While I left the faith my parents have not and I can guarantee you they would find her to be not a true Catholic by any of the standards they believe in. The degree of anger and bilious hatred that permeates so much of her work is inherently anti-Christian in their lights let alone anti-Catholic. Got to love these self appointed guardians of the Faith, they inflict far more damage themselves on the Faith they claim to be protecting than any actual opponent/enemy of that Faith. KS illustrates that most clearly.

Whoa.

Kathy has a face for blogging, I'll say that much. ::shudder::

Even worse, she makes PETA look sane!

People with Lupus in advanced stages often suffer extreme pain. My Uncle died from it. I take it that part of the reason Kathy is the way she is, is because of her condition. i.e. in a lot of pain. And I know that despite all her protest about wanting to move to the US, and so on, there's no way she'd be allowed to immigrate. They don't allow people with serious health afflictions to move as the first reason, and as for the second, she'd never find a health insurance coverage to cover the costs of medication or treatment if her condition worsened. So basically, she's stuck with Canada, whether she likes it or not.

Yes, Kathy and others of the BT brigade regularly make jokes about appearances. But It's such a stupid thing to make fun of. Some people can't do a thing about how they look... others struggle for years with weight issues... looks and superficial appearances are largely irrelant to a discussion. It's what's inside that counts.

And in this case, I see in Kathy, somebody who is suffering from a lot of things. It's why, despite the most craptacular stuff I see on her site sometimes, I am inclined most of the time to just let it go. I've emailed with her a little a long time ago, and she's very different in email than her on-line personnae.

I don't know why she trys to write so much outrageous stuff.. perhaps it's the shock-jock blogging - and she's doing it for the hits.

I wonder though as somebody whose got some knowledge about the religion she espouses... exactly what she thinks she's going to experience when she is brought before god, and the weight of her words, and the effect they have had upon others is brought up, when the time comes for "Christ to sit at the right hand of the father, and to judge the quick and the dead". Will she be comfortable with every single word she has written. Does she really think that her pronouncements and judgements and lashing out at various ethnic groups/religions will impress the Ultimate "vistor" to her website.. and by that, I mean G-O-D.

I seriously wonder about this when I read ANY religious blog. Are they thinking about god at all when they write?

I doubt it very very very much.
