What IS it with right-wingers and Jews?

Weirdly, Canada's Bestest Blogger Kate McMillan seems to be on a real "Hey, some of my best friends are Jews" kick these days. I say "weirdly" since (and this isn't limited to Kate) I've always been puzzled about the Right's schizophrenic attitude toward Jews.

On the one hand, they are all about support for Israel. On the other hand, well, there's Kate's usage of six million dead Jews as the prop for a "gotcha" moment against Warren Kinsella. And, well, her public support for self-described neo-Nazi Jessica Beaumont. Which is, you have to admit, a bit strange given that the Nazis weren't what you'd call big fans of the Jews, if you catch my drift.

And when you notice that there's a serious undercurrent of racism and white supremacist thinking happening over there at Kate's Aryan Coffee Shop and Handgun Emporium, that just makes it all the more bizarre since you don't have to scratch a white supremacist very much to find a drooling anti-Semite, do you?

So how exactly does that work, Kate? Or anyone else? For folks who are all about Israel, you people don't seem to like its actual residents a whole lot. I've always found that a bit curious. Then again, I'm not retarded so that sort of inconsistency always catches my attention.

It's become so dreary that it doesn't even bare discussion anymore. It's simply a convergence (harmonic, even) of interests; theocons, neocons, white-ocons, etc. etc. supporting each other against the forces that are challenging them.

It's been a remarkable spectacle. I really hope it's over soon. There will be great books written about it, which I'm eagerly anticipating.

It's about the end of the world, from what I can see. I'm hardly an expert, but apparently all that stuff in Revelations hinges on big battles in the mideast and a strong state of Israel. The Jews are just tools in all this, props and "little people" to make sure things go the way the Christians want, and to get them into their Eternal Reward. The Jews, in the end, just get tossed aside since they're no use any more.

Which is, of course, delusional as all hell, and played out on an international stage, but it all comes down to yet another case of screaming, raving greed. And of course the actual state of Israel is quite willing to play along with these fantasies, because it means they have big and powerful, if delusional, allies willing to give them gobs of money and support, and discreetly look the other way when they do something naughty. Pretty seamy overall, everybody takes advantage of everybody, and nobody's really happy in the end.

No no no! The jews will finally see Jesus as the Messiah, and they'll be saved too.

Unless of course, Jesus comes back and declares Muhammad (PBUH) to be the number one prophet. Then all the people of the book can be one in paradise.

And of course this inconsistency is a huge reason why Jewish people in Canada and the United States don't support Conservatives/Republicans. In droves. Most Jewish people are smart enough to know that what they say about the gays today, and the blacks yesterday, they've been saying about Jews all along.

Dr. D. — Well that was certainly fascinating. Who knew?

Omen to that. Hopefully, mainstream discourse on this is changing.

Who does anyone think the Christian Zionists are going to blame when the End Times don't come?

I'll offer the Catholics, if that'll help.

They hate the Ay-Rabs even more than the Jews.

And it's not so much Israel tehy support as Likudnik Israel - like Likud leader Binyamin Nethanyu who described 9/11 as a great thing for Israel.

Check out the J-Street project - pro peace, liberal Jews trying to change the discourse from 'supporting Israel means supporting the most agressive right wing elements in Israel' meme to something a bit more balanced.

It really is no big mystery. The bat-shit crazy right, loves the Jews as long as they are somewhere else, kicking the shit out of Arabs.
