And that's when things turned ugly ...

Poor Tom ... he had such high hopes for his creation:

"I spent five years getting Harper into power, so God knows I want him to survive," Tom Flanagan, a political scientist at the University of Calgary, said in an interview Wednesday.

Sadly, however:

"I perfectly understand the imperatives of political survival and the need to make compromises and to adjust, etc., etc. etc. But . . . it’s got a creepy feel to it."

Yeah, I know what you mean, Tom. You pour all that time and effort into them and, well ...

Well, you see, Tom, when you're a political scientist you can propose all sorts of idiotic policies because no matter how insane they are and how harmful they are to people and societies, then you'll only piss off your academic peers. And you get to keep your job.

In that odd place known as 'the real world' if you piss off too many people and damage societies too badly with idiotic policies you don't keep your job.

And if you're really incompetent, you don't even get to keep your life. Ask the Romanovs and the Bourbons about that.

I think it's probably the other was around. Whatever happened with Cadscam, by the way?

Sad how Flanagan thinks credit for Harper's election victories should go to him when it's really owed to the Liberals.
